Coinbase has opened a new office at One Raffles Place in Singapore and plans to increase its local staff from around 150 to 200 by the end of 2026, focusing on expanding its engineering, customer service, client relations, and institutional sales teams. This hiring push contrasts with Coinbase's recent global layoffs of about 14%, as the company states Singapore is one of its fastest-growing international markets. Previously, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong mentioned in an interview with CNBC on Capitol Hill that if the U.S. fails to pass clear crypto legislation, Coinbase will continue building its presence in the U.S., but some operations may shift to offshore markets with clearer regulations.
