[OpenAI Expects Cloud Computing Spending to Rise to $750 Billion by 2030] According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, OpenAI is expanding the scale of its data centers and increasing its budget for spending in this area. Sources reveal that OpenAI has raised its forecast for compute spending by 2030 from approximately $600 billion earlier this year to about $750 billion. This increase reflects OpenAI's efforts to establish new agreements with cloud computing service providers to rapidly secure the massive compute power required for developing and running AI models. On Wednesday, OpenAI announced plans to invest $20 billion to launch a data center project named "Camellia" in Effingham County, Georgia. Sachin Katyal, OpenAI's Vice President of Compute Strategy, stated that the company has signed a contract with Georgia Power to secure 3.2 gigawatts of power supply between 2028 and 2032. The project cost is estimated to potentially exceed $30 billion.
