[Japan's June Crude Oil Import Prices in Yen Hit Record High for Third Consecutive Month] According to a report by Jinse Finance on July 22, data released by Japan's Ministry of Finance on Wednesday showed that due to supply disruptions caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and rising energy prices, Japan's crude oil import prices in June, measured in yen, reached a historic high, marking the third consecutive month of record-breaking levels. The customs-cleared import price rose 84.7% year-on-year to 117,684 yen per kiloliter (approximately $722), setting the highest level since comparable records began in 1979, surpassing the May record of 114,076 yen per kiloliter. In dollar terms, the price was $117.16 per barrel, the ninth-highest level in history. The depreciation of the yen, along with rising insurance premiums and transportation costs, also contributed to the price increase.
