Former Microsoft AI Team Launches Skyfall AI, Investing $1 Million to Experiment with 'AI CEO' Managing a Real Business

Odaily Planet Daily reports that Skyfall AI, an AI startup founded by former members of Microsoft's AI team, has announced plans to invest up to $1 million to acquire a small B2B SaaS or e-commerce company and attempt to have an AI system fully take over the company's operations. The goal is to test whether an 'AI CEO' can manage a real-world business organization.
Skyfall AI co-founders Sam Pasupalak and CTO Kaheer Suleman believe that the current AI industry largely focuses on creating 'autonomous employees,' where AI gradually replaces individual job tasks. However, they argue this does not represent true enterprise autonomy. By operating a real business, they aim to test whether AI can handle end-to-end decision-making processes, including pricing, marketing, customer support, finance, and operations.
The project’s objective is to position AI as the core manager of the business, driving revenue growth with minimal human intervention while transparently documenting both successes and failures during the experiment. The founders of Skyfall AI noted that while existing large language models (LLMs) perform well within established knowledge and fixed environments, they still lack the ability to continuously learn in the face of competitive shifts, customer behavior changes, and market dynamics.
As a result, the company is exploring a new AI architecture called 'Enterprise World Models,' which aims to enable AI to understand the operational state of a business and predict how decisions will impact future developments. Skyfall AI was founded by members of the Maluuba team, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2017 for approximately $160 million. Maluuba's technology later became part of Microsoft's AI research initiatives in Canada. (Forbes)
