Former Coinbase Exec's 'Digital Nomad Community' Under Investigation, Founder Speaks Out: Withdraw Investment If Not Welcome Former Coinbase CTO Balaji Srinivasan's 'digital nomad' community, Network School, founded in Malaysia, recently faced a whirlwind of events, from being investigated to pausing investments. On July 14, Malaysia's Ministry of Home Affairs announced an investigation into Network School following social media allegations that the community had allowed Israeli citizens to enter the country, potentially violating Malaysia's immigration laws. Less than 24 hours later, Malaysia's Immigration Department completed a preliminary investigation, confirming that the 266 foreign nationals involved (from 40 countries) all held valid documents, with no evidence of Israeli citizens entering illegally. Although the investigation was quickly resolved, Balaji Srinivasan announced on July 16 that Network School would pause its future investment plans in Malaysia. He stated: If Malaysia still hopes to attract global tech investments, Network School is willing to discuss signing an MOU and publicly committing to comply with local laws; otherwise, the funds will be redirected to other countries.
