U.S. Trade Representative Greer said Thursday Washington is pressing Vietnam for more action on non-tariff barriers, economic-security cooperation and intellectual property as months-long trade talks continue. He said the U.S. would require Vietnam to align on export controls and related measures before allowing exports of certain high-tech equipment. Washington is also seeking tariff cuts, removal of NTBs that restrict U.S. goods and services, and IP standards consistent with U.S. firms. Vietnamese officials are in Washington this week for a new negotiating round amid three U.S. probes into Vietnam's trade practices; talks had stalled over stricter rules of origin, tougher anti-transshipment measures, market access and NTBs. Former President Trump had threatened a 40% tariff on goods deemed transshipped, though the definition remains unresolved.(金十数据)
