[Over 95% of Coinbase's Code is AI-Assisted]
According to Deep Tide TechFlow on July 16, citing a report from Cointelegraph, Coinbase's platform lead Rob Witoff revealed that 95% to 100% of the company's code is now written with the assistance of large language models, a significant increase from 40% in February of this year. AI has been deeply integrated into Coinbase's daily development processes, with each engineer using an average of 5 to 10 AI agents simultaneously, collectively handling the coding workload of approximately 1,200 employees. Witoff stated that critical modules such as core cryptographic algorithms still rely on manual review, but prototype development has been fully automated. This transformation allows Coinbase to operate with a more streamlined senior team, where 2 to 3 people can accomplish tasks that previously required more than 10. In May of this year, the company laid off 700 employees, with CEO Brian Armstrong stating the need to 'return to startup speed with AI at the core.'
