Intel will invest $5.7 billion to expand its Irish factory
According to TechFlow, on July 13th, Intel (INTC. O) will invest 5 billion euros (approximately 5.7 billion US dollars) to expand its factory in Ireland, attempting to regain its dominant position in the manufacturing industry amid the artificial intelligence boom. Intel stated in a statement that this investment will expand its production capacity at its Lexlip campus on the outskirts of Dublin as part of the company's plan to increase data center processor output. The expansion project will enhance the production capacity of products including flagship Xeon server processors, while promoting research and development activities. Intel Executive Vice President Naga Chandrasekaran stated in a statement that this move is also part of the plan to enhance Intel's customer delivery capabilities for its foundry business. Intel's foundry business mainly produces chips for other technology companies, which is an important component of the company's revitalization strategy aimed at strengthening competition with rivals such as TSMC.
