The first principle of investment is to ensure the safety of the principal! The revelation of the $1.7 million digital asset theft case: choice is greater than effort, if the choice is wrong, effort will be in vain! If your digital asset amount is relatively large, then you should choose a top exchange with strong strength, security first, and compensation capability. How should we choose an exchange that is truly worth long-term use? Many investors, when choosing an exchange, first focus on fees, rebates, liquidity, or the number of popular currencies, but overlook the factors that truly determine the safety of funds. An exchange worth long-term use should be evaluated using the following eight criteria: 1. Security system: Supports multi factor authentication (MFA), withdrawal whitelist, login device management, anti phishing codes, and abnormal login reminders. These functions may be rarely used in daily life, but when real risks occur, they are the last line of defense to hold onto assets. Binance's SAFU fund uses a portion of its trading income to respond to unexpected events such as hacking, which is a noteworthy industry practice. 2. Proof of Reserve (PoR): Displaying asset reserve status to users through on chain data. Although PoR cannot cover all risks, it at least indicates that the platform is willing to accept public scrutiny. 3. Risk control capability: Conduct comprehensive judgment and adopt delayed withdrawal or manual review for continuous high-risk operations such as email modification, unbinding of mobile phone numbers, security item changes, addition of withdrawal whitelist, and large withdrawal. 4. Customer service response capability: Can the security team be quickly contacted in emergency situations, and is there a clear process for handling security incidents. Many investors only realize that the platform has almost no effective human support until their accounts have problems. 5. Historical security records: It's not scary to have experienced something, what's scary is how to handle it after it happened. A trustworthy platform should be able to timely disclose, publicly review, and continuously improve its security mechanisms. 6. Compensation mechanism: Is there a user protection fund and a commitment to secure compensation. 7. Compliance level: License, regulatory, AML/KYC compliance. MITRE has launched the AADAPT framework in July 2025, specifically targeting network security threat modeling for cryptocurrencies and digital payment systems, and security compliance is becoming an industry development direction. 8. User feedback: Authentic user reviews, not official publicity. If I had to recommend which exchange is safer, more reliable, and trustworthy, I would first recommend Binance and OKX. These are also the two top exchanges that I currently focus on using, especially Binance, which fully meets the above eight standards. Moreover, Binance's customer service quality and response speed are getting better and better. Secondly, the Bitget exchange is also worth considering, as I myself have also used Bitget. If an individual has a large amount of digital assets, then it is necessary to establish a three-tier fund security system instead of putting all digital assets on the exchange.
