If AI is to become like a utility as many believe, the end user cost must fall precipitously. But HOW we get there likely won't be a sexy story for several of the hyperscalers who have plowed hundreds of billions into capex and haven't yet turned a profit from it. The power of competition and high demand is almost assuredly going to undercut them at some point just like dense wavelength division multiplexing destroyed the first fiber network builders in the early 2000s. Eventually internet transit costs entered a long term structural race to zero after companies like Worldcom and Global Crossing, who buried thousands of miles of cable, were vaporized.(𝐓𝐗𝐌𝐂)
