[International Market Service Agency: Hormuz Strait Traffic Volume Continues to Decline]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on July 11, the international market service agency Kpler released data on July 10 showing that the number of vessels passing through the Hormuz Strait region dropped from 30 on the previous day to 22 on July 9. This marks the second consecutive day of declining traffic volume through the strait. Kpler stated that this data includes both commercial and non-commercial vessels, with commercial vessel traffic slightly higher than non-commercial vessels.
'The renewed escalation of military confrontation between the U.S. and Iran has weakened market confidence in diplomatic efforts achieving stability in the near term.'
Following the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding, the Hormuz Strait primarily has two navigational routes: the northern route controlled by Iran and the southern route near Oman. The U.S. military provides navigation assistance in the southern route.
Kpler's data shows that, influenced by recent vessel attack incidents in waters near Oman, shipping operators continue to favor the Iranian-side route. On July 9, only one vessel passed through the Oman-side route.
