GATE users had $1.7 million worth of digital assets stolen, and the hackers have already transferred the stolen crypto to multiple wallets. What shouldn’t be happening right now is: (1) Some clueless bloggers are claiming this is a conspiracy, saying the users staged the whole thing themselves. That’s just too much! Imagine if your account got hacked for $1.7 million, and then you were slandered by these brainless bloggers—how would you feel? (2) GATE Exchange should be actively working with users to investigate the core issues, reassure them, and cooperate to report the incident to the authorities as soon as possible, instead of going back and forth with users on Twitter like it’s a courtroom drama. GATE’s PR skills and crisis management need serious improvement. Right now, this whole situation is backfiring on GATE, and users are voting with their feet, withdrawing their funds one after another. (3) Gate has clarified that the live facial recognition and verification process this time was done through automated model checks, not manual reviews. This highlights a vulnerability in the exchange’s verification process—AI models can also be tricked by AI. GATE should urgently upgrade its facial recognition system and verification mechanisms instead of just trying to prove its innocence and lashing out at users. @Gate_zh @Han_Gate @jheioff
