[The Majority of U.S. Voters Believe Trump's War with Iran Was Not Worth It]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on July 6, a new nationwide poll conducted by the Financial Times revealed that 58% of U.S. voters believe the economic and strategic costs of the Trump administration's military conflict with Iran were entirely unjustified. With inflation soaring and war expenditures continuing to rise, the Republican Party faces grim prospects in the upcoming midterm congressional elections. The vast majority of U.S. voters think the current military conflict with Iran is not worth it on both strategic and financial levels, leaving the current administration with a significant political vulnerability.
This poll result comes as the White House is requesting an additional $670 billion in federal funding from Congress to cover the accumulated war expenses. Public sentiment reflects deep skepticism about the government's crisis management approach. Only 31% of respondents believe that the series of skirmishes has strengthened the U.S.'s negotiating position. In contrast, 44% of the public stated that the conflict has significantly weakened the U.S.'s leverage over Iran. Throughout the year, this military action has sharply driven up domestic consumer goods and gasoline prices.
