NASA just finalized a new contract, selecting Rocket Lab to use three Electron rockets to launch two science missions, PolSIR and TSIS-2. The launches will begin in Q1 2027 and will all take place at Rocket Lab's Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand. NASA chose Rocket Lab this time for a clear reason: Electron's orbital precision and flight track record. According to the official statement, Electron can deliver payloads to target orbits with a margin of error in the *meter-level* range, far exceeding the industry-standard *kilometer-level* accuracy. For climate and solar observation missions that have strict orbital window requirements, this capability directly determines the success or failure of the mission. From a business perspective, this contract isn't a huge deal in terms of dollar value, but its significance lies in NASA once again endorsing Electron's "precision delivery" capability. These types of missions are often time-sensitive with tight windows, and if Rocket Lab can execute as planned, it will further solidify its irreplaceable position in the small satellite launch market.
