Chilean regulatory agency cancels license for Venezuelan gang related crypto platform, demands refund of customer funds
According to Livecoins, the Chilean Financial Market Commission (CMF) announced the cancellation of the registration qualification of cryptocurrency platform Pluspay, as it was found to have connections with the Venezuelan criminal organization "Tren de Aragua" and was used to provide financial support for the group. In addition to Pluspay, several institutions including Pixeltec and Iuinvest that failed to submit complete information on time as required by the Financial Technology Act (Lei Fintec) have also been disqualified from providing services in the Chilean market. These institutions are prohibited from expanding new customers and can only perform operations related to clearing business and returning frozen funds to existing users. The regulatory authorities emphasize that payment and encryption service providers must increase transparency to prevent money laundering and illegal fund flows.
