[The EU Has Issued 244 MiCA Licenses, with Germany and France Accounting for Over One-Third]
According to data from the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) cited by Bits.media, as of June 29, 244 companies in the EU have obtained MiCA crypto licenses. Among them, Germany leads with 57 licenses (approximately 23%), followed by France with 26 licenses (approximately 11%). Greece, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, and Romania have yet to issue any MiCA licenses. Poland has not yet established a licensing system for crypto exchanges, with related legislation having been vetoed by the president three times. Germany, France, and the Netherlands (along with Luxembourg and Ireland) collectively hold about 72% of the EU's financial assets, which explains the high concentration of MiCA licenses in these countries. France has recently accelerated its approval process, issuing 5 licenses in the week of June 18 to 22, nearly half of the EU's total of 11 licenses during the same period.
