[U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Review Challenge to SEC's Now-Defunct 'Gag Rule']
The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to review the constitutionality of a now-defunct policy by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The policy had required individuals and companies that reached enforcement settlements with the SEC to refrain from publicly criticizing or questioning the allegations made by the Wall Street regulator. On Monday, the Supreme Court justices, without providing any explanation, rejected the challenge regarding whether the SEC's so-called 'gag rule' infringed upon individual constitutional rights.
