**[U.S. Expands Import Ban on Chinese Tech Equipment, Including Older Models]** According to a report by Jinse Finance, on June 27, media sources revealed that the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will, starting in July, prohibit the import of more telecommunications and surveillance equipment manufactured by Chinese companies into the United States. This marks the latest move by Washington in its ongoing efforts to tighten restrictions on Chinese tech products. Previously, in 2022, the FCC banned new models of telecommunications and video surveillance equipment from Chinese companies Huawei, ZTE, Hytera, Hikvision, and Dahua, citing national security risks. Unlike the earlier measures, which primarily targeted new models released after the end of 2022, the FCC is now extending the restrictions to include older models. Under the new regulations, any equipment used for public safety, government facility protection, critical infrastructure security monitoring, or other purposes related to national security will be prohibited from importation, even if it is an older model. The new rules will take effect in early July this year. The FCC stated that this measure is "necessary to reduce risks in the U.S. communications sector and safeguard national security," but clarified that U.S. users may continue to use the relevant equipment they already own. In recent years, the FCC has continuously expanded the scope of restrictions on Chinese tech products. In December of last year, the FCC banned the import of all new models of Chinese drones, and in March of this year, it prohibited the import of new models of Chinese-made home routers into the U.S. market.
