[How Waller is Reshaping the Federal Reserve: Atlanta Fed President Selection Becomes a Window of Observation]
According to a report by Golden Finance on June 24, citing CNBC, the selection process for the new president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta has entered its seventh month and is drawing close attention. Observers hope to use this as an opportunity to see how the new Federal Reserve Chair, Waller, will reshape the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), which is responsible for setting interest rate policies.
As Waller begins to exert his personal influence within the Federal Reserve, this selection process has also undergone changes. According to two individuals familiar with the hiring process, during former Federal Reserve Chair Powell's tenure, the Fed had already been searching for candidates for the Atlanta Fed president position. However, to allow Waller to take the lead in this appointment, the selection process was temporarily put on hold.
Since the search is still ongoing, both sources requested anonymity. They revealed that Michael Faulkender, who served as a senior Treasury official during President Trump's administration, was subsequently added to the list of candidates being considered for the Atlanta Fed president role. It is currently unclear whether Faulkender remains a candidate.
