According to *The New York Times*, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has instructed internal teams to develop a prediction market app called Arena, which is planned to operate independently of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. Insiders say the product will take inspiration from platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi, initially using a points-based system instead of real money for betting, though the introduction of real-money transactions in the future is not ruled out. Meta aims to leverage traffic from its social platforms to drive users to Arena. The project is still in the development phase, and it’s uncertain whether it will officially launch. The report notes that as the scale of prediction market trading grows rapidly, Meta sees it as a new user behavior trend and a potential growth direction. Previously, Meta launched a prediction market app called Forecast in 2020, which was shut down in 2022.
