According to PYMNTS, the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has issued proposed rules that would require licensed payment stablecoin issuers (PPSI) under its supervision to comply with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CFT), sanctions compliance, and reporting requirements. The rules would also establish an OCC oversight and enforcement framework for the AML/CFT programs of relevant stablecoin issuers and outline a consultation mechanism between the OCC and the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). PYMNTS noted that these rules are part of advancing compliance regulation for stablecoin issuers under the GENIUS Act framework.
