[Kleros Founder Proposes New Ethereum Research Proposal: Validators Can Redirect a Portion of Rewards to Fund Ecosystem Public Goods] Foresight News reports that Clément Lesaege, founder of the decentralized dispute resolution protocol Kleros, has published a new proposal titled 'Validator Reward Redirection Mechanism' on the Ethereum open-source research forum EthResear.ch. The proposal suggests introducing a mechanism at the protocol level that allows validators to redirect a portion of their staking rewards to fund public goods within the Ethereum ecosystem. The core content includes the following: if more than 51% of validators agree to allocate a portion of staking rewards for ecosystem funding, the redirection ratio will apply to all validators, with a maximum cap of 10% of staking rewards and a minimum of 0%. Validators can also choose the funding recipients and allocation ratios. Execution clients would aggregate results through simple mechanisms (e.g., King-of-the-Hill / Condorcet Winner) to minimize governance overhead and enable a 'set-and-forget' operation. The proposal also highlights potential risks, such as validators forming cartels and issues related to delegated authority (e.g., differing preferences between staking operators and delegators). The proposal is currently in the discussion phase. Foresight News notes that King-of-the-Hill is a dynamic, iterative mechanism where any validator can propose a new candidate redistribution contract to challenge the current 'King' every 128 blocks (approximately 5 minutes). Execution clients automatically determine whether the new candidate is 'better' based on validators' preset preferences. The Condorcet Winner is a concept from voting theory. An option that can defeat all other options in one-on-one matchups is considered the 'winner.' It represents the solution that is 'least likely to lose under majority preference.'
