Be like Buffett
Gain health, longevity, and wealth
Be like Livermore
Experience a rollercoaster life
Ending in suicide
I’m grateful that the first trading system book I read
Was about value investing
Although I later explored many other schools of thought
Other schools taught me how to strike fast, hard, and precisely
Only value investing taught me how to survive and progress steadily
I’ve learned too many techniques
And they’ve left significant marks on my trading history
But looking back
I know that just learning Buffett and Munger’s value investing is enough
Value investing inherently has two key traits:
1. Buy safety
2. Buy growth
1 teaches you to control drawdowns, which is more important than 2
2 teaches you to achieve leaps in asset growth
The two complement each other and are not in conflict
Having 1 without 2 means slow progress
Having 2 without 1 means losing it all
A reasonable balance
Advancing with both 1 and 2 is the way to enter the temple of value investing
