The MEV bots that spend all day 'hunting' on-chain (sandwich attacks/DEX arbitrage) got a taste of their own medicine today, as a 'hawk' (hacker) swooped in for a bite. Turns out hackers are truly the apex predators in the on-chain food chain . Not only do they rob project teams and institutions, but now even the meat in the sandwich bots' bowls isn’t safe. The on-chain MEV bot contract [jaredfromsubway] was exploited 6 hours ago when a hacker used a fake contract to gain token approval, stealing tokens worth $7.71 million. The loot includes: 1,583.5 ETH ($2.75M), 2.87M USDC, and 2.09M USDT. The USDC and USDT were later swapped for ETH. So far, the hacker has sent 1,000 ETH through Tornado, and their address still holds 3,426 ETH ($5.94M).
