[U.S. Advanced AI Regulation Order Leaves Loopholes, Cisco and Other Entities Still Able to Access Anthropic's Most Secure Model] According to monitoring by Beating, the U.S. government's export control order targeting Anthropic has failed to completely block access. Cybersecurity companies Dragos and Cisco Systems have confirmed that both companies retain access to the Mythos preview version. The Mythos preview version demonstrated powerful vulnerability detection capabilities during testing, identifying thousands of security vulnerabilities in mainstream operating systems and browsers. To prevent misuse, Anthropic restricted access to the Mythos preview version to members of the Project Glasswing alliance in April. Project Glasswing consists of approximately 200 organizations, including banks and tech companies. As an alternative, Anthropic released the Fable 5 model to the public, which had its cybersecurity task execution capabilities removed. Following the issuance of export license review requirements, the U.S. government ordered Anthropic to block Fable 5 and Mythos 5 to prevent unauthorized foreign personnel from using them. In response, Anthropic shut down public access to Fable 5 and suspended the distribution of Mythos 5 to Project Glasswing members. However, the U.S. government directive did not mention the Mythos preview version. Anthropic stated on its official blog that "remaining models" are unaffected but did not directly reference the Mythos preview version. [Original Link]
