[Aztec Labs: The attacked product is a payment solution discontinued four years ago, over which we have no control]
Aztec Labs posted on the X platform stating that the team is investigating a potential vulnerability affecting the Aztec payment product that was discontinued in 2021, with approximately $2 million transferred from immutable smart contracts. The discontinued product pertains to the unmodifiable Stage 2 Rollup version, which was decommissioned in 2022. Aztec Labs does not hold administrator keys or have any control over the system, making it impossible to pause or upgrade. This incident is independent of the June 14 attack on the Aztec Connect product. Additionally, the Aztec Foundation clarified that the attacked product is not connected to the current network or any smart contracts related to the AZTEC ERC20 token.
