Will SpaceX follow the same path as Tesla's IPO?
Trader @ 0xbeehive compared the initial trends of the two listings side by side: Tesla saw a surge after its IPO in 2010, followed by a drop of over 70% in the following months; The opening shape of SpaceX (SPCX) is highly similar to its height.
He believes that Musk will not give up on the proven successful tricks, implying that SPCX will follow the old path again in the future.
But there are several structural differences worth paying attention to this time
Starting from June, the four major indexes of FTSE Russell, MSCI, Nasdaq 100, and CRSP will be gradually included in SpaceX, with an estimated passive buying scale of approximately $21-33 billion, concentrated in June July.
At the same time, approximately 60% of Elon Musk and important shareholders' shares were locked for 366 days, and the early unlocked chips only accounted for about 40% of the total share capital, which were released in batches on a quarterly basis.
When Tesla went public, there was no such mechanism, no passive incremental funds to continuously support the bottom, and no clear locking structure.
