OHIO REVOKES CDLS FOR 1,200 FOREIGN TRUCK DRIVERS
Ohio is revoking some commercial driver's licenses for foreign truckers after a federal audit found certain licenses no longer meet updated requirements.
The state says 1,200 drivers have already received downgrade notices because their documentation no longer meets updated federal eligibility requirements, according to Transport Topics, an outlet covering trucking and freight transportation. The changes follow a nationwide halt and new federal rules for non-domiciled CDLs, USA TODAY reports. Ohio defines a non‑domiciled CDL as a U.S. commercial driver's license issued to someone who is legally in the U.S. and authorized to work, but who is not a permanent resident.
The Department of Transportation is also urging states to more strictly enforce English-language proficiency requirements for commercial drivers.
