According to Premium Times, the Nigerian Senate has passed a cryptocurrency regulation bill in its second reading. The bill aims to establish a comprehensive regulatory framework for virtual assets, digital assets, and Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs). It also mandates that crypto exchanges and VASPs operating in Nigeria comply with licensing, transparency, and compliance requirements. The bill has been submitted to the Senate Capital Market Committee for further review, and the committee is expected to submit a report within four weeks after public hearings. If ultimately passed by the National Assembly and signed by the President, it will mark a significant step forward in shaping Nigeria's crypto regulatory framework.
