[Report: U.S. Makes Concessions to Iran After Israeli Attack]
According to a report by Jinse Finance on June 16, citing Iran's Fars News Agency on June 15, a source disclosed details of the process for finalizing a ceasefire memorandum of understanding between Iran and the U.S. The source stated that after Israel's attack on Lebanon on June 14, the U.S. proposed new concession terms to advance the diplomatic process.
The source revealed that after Iran's Supreme National Security Council approved the general framework of the memorandum on June 13, a Qatari delegation arrived in Tehran on the morning of June 14 to coordinate on remaining contentious issues. During this time, Israel launched an attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon's capital, sharply escalating tensions.
The source said that Iran was prepared to launch a new round of large-scale military strikes against Israel at that time, and negotiations were on the verge of collapse. However, with the intervention of U.S. President Trump, the U.S. proposed new concession terms to prevent Iran from launching strikes against Israel. Iran ultimately determined that the agreement aligned with its national interests and the interests of the Lebanese people.
The source further noted that the most significant modifications in the final stage of the memorandum included two key points: first, the original plan to gradually lift the maritime blockade on Iran within 30 days was revised to an immediate lifting of the blockade; second, the ceasefire scope was further clarified to include all fronts involving Lebanon, with additional language emphasizing respect for Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
