Trump told U.S. media outlet Axios that despite Israel's airstrike on Beirut and Iran's threats of retaliation, the U.S.-Iran deal to end the war is still expected to be signed on Sunday.
'Israel's attack disrupted the process. It delayed the signing by a few hours. It was supposed to be signed now. Now it's scheduled for a few hours later,' Trump said during a phone call with Axios.
He was reportedly shocked when advisors called to inform him about Israel's airstrike on Beirut and was furious with Netanyahu.
'Terrible, I can't believe it. Just an hour before we were supposed to sign the deal,' the leader was quoted by Axios.
Trump claimed that the deal with Iran would benefit Israel because it would prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, require the handling of nuclear materials, and allow surprise inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities.
