[Ukraine Claims Strike on Strategic Oil Depot in Russia, No Response from Russia Yet]
According to Golden Finance, on June 14, citing CCTV, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced on June 14 local time that its subordinate 'Alpha' Special Operations Center, following the directive of Ukrainian President Zelensky, used drones to strike the national reserve oil depot in Rybinsk, Yaroslavl Oblast, Russia.
Ukraine stated that the oil depot is located over 700 kilometers from Ukraine's border and is part of Russia's national material reserve system, storing various fuels and lubricants. It plays a role in supplying fuel to northeastern Russia and serves as a strategic fuel reserve for the Russian military. After being hit by drones, the depot caught fire, with at least three large fire points reported within the area of over 60 storage tanks.
The Security Service of Ukraine also declared that oil supply, refining, and fuel logistics infrastructure within Russia are legitimate targets for Ukraine. Such facilities provide operational resources for the Russian military and support Russia's military actions against Ukraine.
Russia has not yet responded to this incident.
