[U.S. Supreme Court Rules to Dismiss Private Lawsuits Filed Under Key Securities Law]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on June 11, the U.S. Supreme Court sided with a group of investment funds associated with BlackRock and other asset management companies, dismissing certain lawsuits filed by private plaintiffs under a key federal securities law. The justices, in a 6-3 vote, overturned the lower court's decision. Previously, the lower court had allowed the hedge fund Saba Capital Master Fund to file a lawsuit under the Investment Company Act of 1940, seeking to invalidate fund provisions that restrict the voting rights of activist shareholders.
