The Japanese House of Representatives has voted to pass a bill designating cryptocurrency as a financial instrument and incorporating it into the regulatory framework of the Financial Commodity Exchange Act. The bill will lower the cryptocurrency income tax rate from a maximum of 0.55 to 0.2 capital gains tax, while also allowing cryptocurrency ETFs to be released. The relevant new regulations will officially come into effect in 2027.
