[Iranian Professor: The Strait of Hormuz Issue Must Be Resolved Through Diplomacy, Not Military Means]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on June 10, University of Tehran professor Foad Izadi pointed out that U.S. strikes on radar and missile facilities in southern Iran would not have a significant impact on Iran's decision-making. Izadi stated: 'Iran aims to ensure that control of the Strait of Hormuz remains firmly in its own hands. This has already changed—not in Tehran, but in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran is willing to pay any price for this, because controlling the strait means holding leverage.'
In an interview, he further noted: 'In its long-term confrontation with the U.S. and Israel, Iran does not rely on these military facilities near the Persian Gulf to control the strait. Iran is a major power with long-range ballistic missiles and drones.' Izadi emphasized that the only solution to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz lies in negotiations. He said: 'U.S. officials may be pleased today with striking a few Iranian targets, but in the long run, if they insist on resolving this issue through military means, they will find it difficult to achieve their policy objectives. This issue requires a political solution, not a military one—I believe many in Washington have already come to realize this.'
