"[Analyst: Despite Mutual Strikes, Neither the U.S. nor Iran Wants an 'Infinite War'] Odaily Planet Daily News – Political analyst Elijah Magnier stated that although the U.S. and Iran have exchanged fire, neither side wishes to engage in an 'infinite war.' He pointed out that the U.S. aims to reestablish 'deterrence,' protect its military forces, and restore freedom of navigation through the latest round of strikes. Meanwhile, Tehran seeks to demonstrate that any attacks will come at a cost. 'Neither side seems willing to fight an infinite war because the costs are too high. The consequences for both sides are enormous, including energy security in the Gulf region, regional stability, and the global market, as Iran is exerting pressure by involving all countries in the region,' he said. Regarding the downing of a U.S. Apache helicopter, Magnier noted that Iran would obviously not claim responsibility, as doing so would be tantamount to 'inviting' the U.S. to 'launch a fierce retaliation, potentially even starting a war.' 'The Iranians are signaling that they are prepared to go to war if necessary,' he said, adding, 'They made this judgment knowing full well that the U.S. has no intention of starting a war.'" (Jin10)
