The European Parliament remains a key partner in fostering stronger relations and cooperation between Kenya, Africa and the European Union.
Met with President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, and discussed strengthening Kenya-European Union relations for our mutual benefit.
We welcomed progress under the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) and the EU-Kenya Digital Partnership, particularly on the Digital Dialogue and Data Adequacy process, which will strengthen digital trade, attract investment and enhance Kenya’s position as a leading digital hub.
We also urged support for the conclusion and implementation of the Cross-Border Trade in Services framework to unlock new opportunities for Kenyan and European businesses, leveraging Kenya’s young, highly educated and tech-savvy workforce.
Beyond trade and investment, we called for reforms to the global financial architecture to improve access to affordable financing and ensure fairer treatment of developing economies.
We further urged support for reforms of global governance institutions, including the United Nations Security Council, to ensure a more inclusive, equitable and representative international order.(William Samoei Ruto, PhD)
