SBF amnesty application, appeal and retrial go hand in hand, legal team bets on multiple paths According to BlockBeats, on June 8th, while formally submitting a pardon application to US President Trump, FTX co-founder SBF (SBF) is simultaneously advancing multiple judicial procedures, attempting to seek a reversal of the verdict through administrative and legal channels. At present, the SBF team has simultaneously launched three fronts. Except for the latest presidential pardon application, its appeal (case number 24-961) against the conviction result to the United States Second Circuit Court of Appeals has completed oral arguments in November 2025 and is still awaiting a ruling. The appeal mainly revolves around issues such as the rules of evidence admission, the fairness of the trial procedure, and whether the presiding judge has bias. At the same time, in February 2026, Barbara Fried, the mother of SBF, filed a motion for retrial in the Southern District of New York Federal Court under Rule 33 of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, claiming that there were violations of due process during the trial and requesting the court to reconsider the case. Analysts point out that the parallel application for amnesty, federal appeal, and retrial motion reflect that the SBF legal team is not relying on a single channel for hope, but is attempting to push forward through administrative power and judicial procedures in sync to gain more possibilities for overturning its 25 year sentence. At present, the above procedures have not yet made a final ruling.
