[Iran's World Cup Team Departs for Training in Mexico, 14 Officials Stranded Due to U.S. Visa Issues] Deep Tide TechFlow reports, on June 6, according to the Associated Press, the Iranian national men's soccer team departed from Turkey on Saturday for their training base in Tijuana, Mexico, in preparation for three World Cup group stage matches later this month in the United States. However, according to Iranian state television, 14 administrative and logistical officials traveling with the team, including the Iranian Football Federation Secretary-General Hedayat Mombeini and Vice President Mehdi Mohammad Nabi, have yet to obtain U.S. visas. Due to conflicts between Iran and the U.S. and Israel, the team's travel plans have faced repeated disruptions. Previously, due to obstacles in U.S. visa processing, the Iranian team relocated their training base from Tucson, Arizona, to Tijuana, a border city in Mexico. Anonymous U.S. officials revealed that visas for all Iranian players, coaches, and some logistical staff have been approved, but some applicants affiliated with the football federation were denied visas on grounds of "false pretenses." According to the schedule, Iran's team will face New Zealand and Belgium on June 15 and 21 in Inglewood, California, and then travel to Seattle on June 26 to play against Egypt. The Iranian Football Federation had previously insisted that the U.S. issue visas for all personnel, including those with service history in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The federation is currently appealing the visa denials for its officials to FIFA.
