According to a report by *Procuratorial Daily*, the second trial of a case in Wuhan, Hubei, involving the theft of virtual currency by secretly photographing a digital wallet private key, has resulted in a revised verdict. In May 2024, Lin, Zeng, and Dai used the pretense of trading virtual currency to secretly photograph the victim's digital wallet private key. After the virtual currency was transferred, they secretly logged into the wallet to cancel the transaction and transferred the virtual currency back to their controlled accounts. Their three thefts caused a total loss of 660,000 yuan (approximately $92,000). The first trial did not directly recognize the amount involved as particularly significant. After an appeal by the procuratorate, the Wuhan Intermediate People's Court ruled in the second trial that the theft amount was particularly significant. The main offender, Lin, was sentenced to 10 years and 6 months in prison for theft, while accomplices Zeng and Dai were sentenced to 8 years in prison and fined.
