#STATEMENT For Immediate Release: June 5, 2026 * Energy Minister describes power outage as unacceptable * Minister advised that JPS has began phased restoration of electricity Energy Minister Daryl Vaz is describing as unacceptable the all-island power outage which affected Jamaica on Friday night. Minister Vaz has been advised by the leadership of the Jamaica Public Service company that all power stations are being restarted with a view of having electricity restored to the entire island on a phased basis overnight into Saturday morning. The Energy Minister has demanded a full report from the JPS within 24 hours including an outline of what caused the power outage and will update the nation accordingly. -30-(Andrew Holness)
