[Runtze Technology Reportedly Seeks HK$20 Billion Loan to Build Data Center in Hong Kong's Northern Metropolis]
According to a report by Jinse Finance on June 5, Bloomberg cited sources stating that Chinese data center operator Runtze Technology is seeking a loan of approximately HK$20 billion to construct the largest computing facility in Hong Kong.
Sources familiar with the matter revealed that Runtze Technology is in preliminary discussions with banks regarding this one-year loan, which may take the form of a syndicated loan or multiple bilateral financings to support the development of the data center project in Hong Kong's Northern Metropolis. Negotiations with banks are still in the early stages and may be subject to change. A subsidiary of the company won a bid in March to develop a 110,000-square-meter plot in the Northern Metropolis into a data center cluster and related industries. The project is currently under construction, with a total investment of HK$23.8 billion expected over the next three years.
This potential financing plan is part of broader efforts to accelerate the development of Hong Kong's Northern Metropolis. The Northern Metropolis is a 300-square-kilometer cross-border project that Hong Kong views as a pillar of its future growth. The data park will increase Hong Kong's computing power by 36 times and generate approximately HK$4.6 billion in economic output in the first three years.
