Iran denies attacking Kuwait airport, claims damage was caused by misoperation of US made Patriot system
According to BlockBeats, on June 4th, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that they did not launch missiles at the passenger terminal of Kuwait International Airport. The related damage was caused by a misoperation of the American made Patriot anti missile system after interception failed, resulting in the interception missile falling. Revolutionary Guard spokesman Hussein Mukhbi stated that investigations have shown that Iran's aerospace forces did not attack Kuwait's airport and have obtained relevant evidence. The US Central Command denies this, stating that Iran's claims are "completely wrong" and accusing Iran of "planned and unreasonable" use of missiles and drones to attack civilian airports. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously stated that multiple civilian facilities, including Kuwait International Airport, were attacked by Iranian ballistic missiles and drones, resulting in one death and multiple injuries. Kuwait temporarily closed its airspace and suspended air traffic, but the airport has now resumed operations. After the incident, Kuwait summoned the Iranian Charg é d'affaires in Kosovo and announced a reduction in the size of the Iranian embassy's personnel. Two Iranian diplomats were listed as "unwelcome persons" and were required to leave within 24 hours. Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary General Boudawi also issued a statement condemning Iran's attacks on civilian facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait, calling them a "dangerous and unprecedented escalation".
