According to a report by Russian AML/KYT service provider Shard, cited by TASS, the number of crypto industry cyberattacks in Q1 2026 doubled year-on-year, exceeding 80 incidents. However, total losses dropped 69% year-on-year to $496 million, compared to $1.6 billion in the same period last year. Shard noted that Q1 2025 losses were primarily driven by the $1.4 billion theft from Bybit, which accounted for about 87.5% of total losses that quarter. In contrast, attacks in 2026 were no longer concentrated on a single major event but were more widely distributed across DeFi protocols, infrastructure services, and individual users. The report shows that January was the worst month for losses in Q1, with 29 attacks causing over $392 million in damages. February saw 26 attacks with losses exceeding $22 million, while March experienced a rebound in attack numbers to 27, with losses surpassing $81 million. https://(wublock123.com)/news/q1-crypto-attacks-double-year-on-year-targets-more-distributed-61945
