[ZeroTier CEO: Bitcoin's Greatest Quantum Computing Risk May Come from Inter-Institutional Encrypted Communication] According to Deep Tide TechFlow, on May 30, Andrew Gault, CEO of network infrastructure company ZeroTier, stated that market discussions about the threat of quantum computing may be overly focused on Bitcoin wallet private keys, while overlooking broader infrastructure security issues. Gault pointed out that once quantum computers mature in the future, data currently transmitted between institutions, exchanges, and financial service providers using traditional encryption methods could become significant attack targets. Attackers might adopt a 'Harvest Now, Decrypt Later' strategy, preemptively storing encrypted network traffic, authentication records, and digital signatures, then decrypting them once quantum computing capabilities reach a sufficient level. He believes that compared to the risk of a single wallet key being cracked, the quantum security challenges faced by inter-institutional data transmission layers and authentication systems could have a more widespread impact on the future financial system. Therefore, the industry needs to proactively implement quantum-resistant encryption technologies.
