The Russian Central Bank plans to limit banks' investment risk in crypto assets, capping it at 1% of a single banking group's capital. This restriction only applies to banks' own crypto asset positions and does not include crypto assets invested or held in custody by banks on behalf of their clients. For client crypto assets, the Russian Central Bank plans to account for operational risks separately, mainly covering risks like hacking and information security incidents, and proposes applying a 50% risk weight to client positions. The Russian Central Bank stated that these requirements primarily consider the extreme volatility of crypto assets and the risk of asset freezes. (Bits Media)
