JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon: Clearly stated he will use all resources to oppose the Treasury-backed 'Clarity Act.'
His exact words: 'We will fight the Clarity Act to the end. Win or lose, this battle must be fought. No one is going to bow down to Brian Armstrong or Coinbase… he’s just full of nonsense.'
I looked into it—Jamie Dimon and big banks are opposing parts of the *Clarity Act* because it might allow stablecoin issuers to pay rewards/returns on customer balances without adhering to bank-level rules (capital requirements, reserves, regulations).
He believes this is unfair competition—if crypto companies act like banks, they should follow the same regulations or 'become a bank.'
That’s why he’s vowed to fight this bill and has publicly called out Brian Armstrong/Coinbase.
Traditional banks want regulatory parity to protect their deposit business.
