The CFTC Division of Market Participants has confirmed that certain crypto perpetual contracts can be classified as 'Foreign Futures' and issued a No-Action Letter to Coinbase Financial Markets, allowing it to use customer digital assets and stablecoins as margin under certain conditions to trade related products via the affiliated platform Deribit.
