The United States locks in new targets in Iran to prepare for resuming strikes
On May 27th, according to reports from multiple media outlets including NBC, US officials revealed to the media that the US Department of Defense has drafted a list of targets for strikes within Iran in preparation for President Trump's possible resumption of military operations against the country. But according to sources' analysis, if the United States launches a new strike, the difficulty will be greater than before.
It is reported that the Pentagon is considering naming the possible military operation to be restarted as "Hammer", targeting some nuclear facilities that were bombed by the US military in June last year, including the Natanz and Isfahan nuclear facilities. The US military may also strike Iran's strategic oil facilities on Halk Island, as well as power plants, military command centers, and communication facilities.
According to informed sources, many of the targets that have been hit in Iran are considered "easy fruits" because those targets are "either fixed or not deeply buried in cover". But targets such as missile launchers and drones have become more concealed and difficult to approach, making it more challenging to locate and strike them accurately than before.
The National Broadcasting Corporation of the United States previously cited an assessment by US intelligence agencies that Iran still has "considerable" combat capabilities, with fighter jets and small ships not completely destroyed, and a considerable number of missiles and their supporting launch devices remaining buried or transferred. In addition, multiple US officials have revealed that Iran has recently "limited restarted" defense industrial production, but it is currently unclear to what extent the US knows about these facilities because their locations are quite concealed.
According to the Tasnim News Agency of Iran on the 27th, Mohammad Akbarzad, a naval officer of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, stated that the possibility of a renewed war with the United States is "low", but the Iranian armed forces are "fully loaded with magazines" and ready.
