TeraWulf acquires 1GW AI data center land in Kentucky, with stock price up about 8% before trading
On May 26th, according to TheEnergyMag, TeraWulf (NASDAQ: WULF) announced the acquisition of Muskie Data Campus located in eastern Kentucky, expected to support over 1GW of data center capacity. The first phase of 500MW is scheduled to be delivered in the second half of 2028, and the second phase of 500MW is expected to be completed in the second half of 2030. The plot was acquired from Industrial Equity Partners and covers an area of approximately 285 acres, located within a 1000 acre industrial park in Eastern Kentucky. Kentucky Electric Power Company (AEP) has initiated the construction of a 345kV substation and connected it to the 765kV transmission network. The transmission infrastructure and energy service agreements have been signed simultaneously. TeraWulf stated that the zoning plan for the project has been completed and the permit work is underway, but the initial site preparation workload is limited. After the completion of this acquisition, TeraWulf's layout in Kentucky will expand to two major digital infrastructure projects, with an overall platform capacity of over 2.8GW. The company's first quarter revenue was $34 million, of which HPC leasing revenue was $21 million.
